Within recent months I have taken a strong liking to butterflies. I
was fascinated with their colors and the way they seemed so free. When I
did some research on butterflies I realized their journey in life was a
lot like mine. Before the butterfly can come into itself it has to go
through a process. The process starts out with an egg and then the egg
hatches and the caterpillar enters the world.
The caterpillar roams around with many fears and basically an unknown
future. The caterpillar faces the risks and dangers of being stepped
on, being called ugly, and even the dangers of survival. This reminded
me of my own life each day I have fears to face and even an unknown
future. But it is my job to have faith and to keep pressing forward
knowing that something better is coming.
Before the caterpillar can become a butterfly. It must go through a
process, the transition stage. In this stage that caterpillar is now
secluded from the rest of the world. The caterpillar is in a dark place
and to the rest of the world it’s as if nothing is happening but inside
the cocoon the caterpillar is transforming. The legs and wings are
beginning to grow. So much is happening behind the scenes that is
getting the caterpillar ready for the next stage of his life. This is
just like what we go through when God is taking us through a process. To
the rest of the world and at times even to ourselves we think nothing
is happening in our lives. Things look dark and at times we feel
secluded like all the world is moving but not us. In these times we are
developing, we are growing and learning ourselves. Like the caterpillar
we too are getting our wings so we can fly to our destiny.
We must learn not to despise our dark places for darkness births
light. As the butterfly gets strong and has grown to its full potential
the butterfly will begin to come out of the cocoon. What is amazing
about that part is the butterfly cannot come out until it reaches its
full potential just like us when we have dark seasons. God reveals to us
our strength and gives us our wings for where we are about to go.
I leave you with this don’t despise the processes of life, without the process a caterpillar cannot become a butterfly.
